'And the merry love the fiddle,
And the merry love to dance.'

W. B. Yeats The Fiddler of Dooney

Nine Fine Irishmen offers the very best of Irish traditional entertainment every night from 10pm. We have gathered together the very best musicians and dancers to lay on a spectacular show called;
'Routes to Roots'

Irish music and dance are as close to one another as the waves are to the shore. At the heart of both is the yearning for free expression of the human spirit in all its joy and passion. 'Routes to Roots' captures that illusive, tangible mix of the heart's language, the ancient, timeless notes and steps of unquenchable thirst for full human being and belonging.

Dance, and the music that sets feet alert to their own freedom, carried a people beyond confinement; it sustained them on their journeys into exile and a new life. Both found new forms in other lands and in their encounter with different cultures; and today Irish music and dance continue to inspire and entertain new generations from Bangor Erris in County Mayo to Las Vegas and beyond.

The musicians play an exciting, colourful mix of Irish music in its many forms - from its roots in the heartlands of Ireland through its journeys and fusions in the U.S.A., Canada and Latin America… You'll hear Irish jigs and reels, French-Canadian waltzes, tunes from the Appalachian mountains, bluegrass and Creole music, Klesmer from New York and the vaudville dance hall music of the 1920's, - all the vital notes and variations that have evolved out of the journeys of emigration from Ireland and change/new beginnings. Side by side with the music will be song and dance mapping the stories, the history and the hopes of a people whose cultural heritage is at the core of so much of American life.

As the "Nine Fine Irish Men" whose names inspire this new venue, carried a social and political vision out of Ireland in the 1840s, so this music and dance carries the spirit of freedom and a quintessentially Irish expression of an enduring and inspirational culture.
